Byron has over 31 years of taxation experience. Unitl July 1, 2012, he was an Energy Industry tax partner in the Houston office of PwC. Byron joined the Houston office in 1994 from the Moscow, Russia office where he spent three years as Tax partner and the Director of Petroleum Services. Byron also served in the Dallas and Washington National Tax Services office of PwC. In Washington, he monitored tax and fiscal legislation, regulations, and rulings affecting the energy industry.
Byron provides domestic and international tax advice to a variety of companies, of all sizes, on topics involving mergers and acquisitions, tax efficient investment structuring, use of hybrid entities, foreign tax credit planning, cash repatriation planning, Section 382 planning, monetization of tax attributes, as well as state and local planning techniques. In WNTS, Byron also specialized in partnership taxation.
Byron has published articles on oil and gas topics in the Journal of Taxation, the Oil and Gas Tax Quarterly and the Journal of Petroleum Accounting. Byron is a frequent speaker at the American Petroleum Institute Federal Tax Forum, Parker Fielder Oil & Gas Taxation, NAPAC and AICPA oil and gas conferences on such topics as limited partnerships, international taxes, Section 263A, intangible drilling costs and foreign tax credits.
Byron has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Masters of Science in Accountancy, Taxation from the University of North Texas.
