Financial Support

All Bauer College of Business Ph.D. programs offer a generous package of financial support to accepted applicants who agree to take on the half-time responsibilities of Graduate Assistant. Depending on a student’s particular circumstances, these packages provide a total of approximately $36,000 per year of support.

  • The stipend associated with the assistantship is currently $27,000, based on a 12 month appointment, plus a $150 per month stipend to help cover health insurance.
  • Accepted students that meet the criteria listed below will be nominated for a University-sponsored Presidential Fellowship. These fellowships provide students with an additional $3600 per year for the first two years of study. Once accepted, a student’s nomination is handled by the Dean's Office for the Bauer College; there are no separate application materials for students to complete. Although there are no absolute criteria, the purpose of the Fellowships is to improve the Bauer College’s competitiveness with other prestigious schools of business. As such, accepted students will normally be nominated for the Fellowship if they:
    • Score above 640 on the GMAT test or above 1250 on the GRE test
    • Have a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 point scale over their most recently completed 60 hours of coursework
    • Have three letters of recommendation all of which provide unequivocal positive assessments
  • If nominated, doctoral level Graduate Assistants in the Bauer College are also eligible for a University-Sponsored Graduate Tuition Fellowship (GTF). The Bauer College will attempt (but cannot guarantee) to provide this fellowship to all doctoral students in good standing up to the program’s limits of five years of funding. The GTF program provides funding equivalent to the cost of in-state tuition for 9 credit hours per semester and up to 6 credit hours in the summer for qualified Ph.D. students. After receiving this fellowship, students typically owe approximately $1000 per semester in fees that the program does not cover. Receipt of the GTF also qualifies non-residents for in-state tuition. To be eligible, a doctoral student must:
    • Be in good academic standing
    • Be enrolled full time in a Bauer College doctoral program
    • Be employed by the Bauer College in a 50% FTE assistantship; employment (on or off campus) beyond the assistantship is prohibited. A violation of this restriction will result in the GTF being revoked immediately
    • Be nominated for the fellowship by the Department Doctoral Coordinator within his/her major area.
  • Many students supplement their base stipends with additional compensation for teaching (typically beginning in the third year of study).
