Freshman Admission to the Bauer College: How to apply

Apply as a freshman to the University of Houston. You will be asked to select a preferred major – select “Business” or “Pre-business”. Requirements for admission into UH as a Pre-business student are higher than standard UH requirements.  To see if you qualify to be a business major, visit the UH Office of Admissions Admissions Criteria webpage and scroll to the Special Major Requirements section of the page.

If you meet all requirements, you will be admitted as “Pre-Business”. Keep in mind that every freshman student starts out as Pre-business - students in Bauer College do not declare their major concentration until their late sophomore/early junior year.

Up Next™ Academic Success Program and                           Emerging Leaders Academic Success Program

These two programs provide a successful transition to college for freshmen and to a four year institution for transfer students from community colleges and lay a foundation for leadership development. Up Next™ is in partnership with The Princeton Review. Students who participate in one of these two programs have improved retention and higher grades at the end of their first year than non-participants, and are better prepared to be student leaders in the college.  www.bauer.uh.edu/upnext and www.bauer.uh.edu/elasp
