Information for First-Time Transfer Students

UH Bauer College offers many tools to help you plan for a seamless transfer! We encourage you to begin planning early and to apply as soon as you are ready to maximize your college experience!

 

Step 1: Get Informed
Information Gathering and Exploration

Here are ways to explore UH Bauer College and important things to know about our program prior to applying to UH:

  • Transfer Advising Program (TAP):  UH has an innovative program through which UH academic advisors spend time advising students at various community colleges in the Houston metro area.  Visit the TAP webpage to find out when and where you can see our business transfer advisor , as well as how to make an appointment.
  • Before You Apply - Daytime Program Reminder and Full-time Courseload Recommendation:  We would like to remind all of our prospective non-traditional and transfer students that the BBA Degree Program at UH-Main campus is a Daytime program - we offer a very limited number of early evening and online courses. Students who wish to complete their degree primarily at night, on weekends, or at home should consider other schools to pursue their degree at, including other UH-System campuses.  In addition, due to state law requirements regarding timely degree plan selection and our commitment to student success inside and outside of the classroom, we strongly recommend that business students maintain full-time status (12 credit hours or more per fall and spring semesters).

 

Step 2: Get Started
Transfer Admission to UH Bauer College

Apply as a transfer student and submit your college transcripts* to the University of Houston-Main campus Office of Admissions. You will be asked to select a preferred major – select “Business” or “Pre-business”. If you qualify to be a business major (Scroll to view "Special Major Requirements"), you will be admitted as “Pre-Business”. Keep in mind that every transfer student starts out as Pre-business their first semester here, regardless of their major declaration at their previous school(s).

*Within the state of Texas, the fastest way to send your college transcript is electronically (Electronic or “Speede” Transcript). We strongly recommend that you inquire at your previous institution about this option.

 

Step 3: Get Enrolled
Mandatory Advising for New Business Students

First-time transfer students admitted to the UH Bauer College receive their initial academic advising through attendance of an Advising and Registration for Transfers (ART) session.  These sessions are MANDATORY for every new transfer student.

After you attend a session, your registration/enrollment “hold” will be removed from your myUH student account, permitting you to enroll in classes!

 

FAQ:  What if I get admitted to UH, but not to UH Bauer College?  Can I try again after I begin at UH?
