Career Development Specialist
Erin Reed is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor degree in Marketing. She also has a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University. Her professional background spans across several industries including Retail, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, and now Higher Education. She began her career at Foley's Department Stores (now Macy's) where she was a member of the Buyer Training Program and an Account Coordinator for in-house advertising. After obtaining her MBA, she transitioned careers into Human Resources and became the Manager of Global University Relations at Cooper Industries where she led the global university recruiting and rotational programs for the company. After almost 4 years, Erin moved into an HR Manager role at Stanley Black & Decker where she was responsible for all of the HR activities at a small division of the company. Each of these roles eventually led Erin to realize her true passion for counseling students on their careers. This led Erin to join The University of Houston, C.T. Bauer College of Business as an MBA Career Development Specialist. Within a year, she was promoted to Senior Career Development Specialist and is responsible for developing the career skills of over 800 MBA students among a host of other responsibilities. Erin is a member of the National Black MBA Association and the MBA Career Services and Employer Alliance (MBA CSEA). She also holds the following certifications: Professional in Human Resources (PHR), SHRM-CP, The Birkman Method, Korn Ferry Voices, Leadership Architect 101, and Via Edge.
