Lecturer - Faculty Coordinator for IP Business Plans
James M. Kane earned his DDS at Loyola University, Chicago College of Dental Surgery in 1977 and his MBA at the University of Texas, McCombs School of Business in 1992. He has had a variety of business experiences and interests including buying, building and selling multiple businesses. He has been an investor in public financial instruments, including stocks, stock options, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs and futures. His first stock trade was made nearly 50 years ago. He has been an active trader for 20 years, including several years as a day trader. He currently concentrates on investing in private ventures, real estate and public markets.
Dr. Kane coordinates internships and guides student research projects at the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship. WCE is ranked among the top undergraduate entrepreneurship program in the country by the Princeton Review. Previously he was the Director of the Institute for Financial Literacy and lecturer in entrepreneurship at the University of Houston/Downtown. He speaks to local groups interested in Financial Literacy or a view of the economy from the perspective of a long-term investor.
