Bio
Oliver Blanco is a Career Counselor at the Rockwell Career Center with the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. Prior to the Rockwell Career Center, he worked in human resources with HISD, the largest school district in Texas, and seventh largest in the nation. Oliver is a member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Employers (SoACE) and the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). He advises undergraduate Bauer students concentrating in Entrepreneurship, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. Oliver graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts. Go Coogs! He has completed the NACE Career Coaching Intensive, Gallup's StrengthsQuest Strength Advocate Certification and the SoACE Emerging Leader Career Services Certification. He recently sat on the Board of Directors as President for two years with Unhinged Productions, a non-profit theatre organization in the Houston area. He has volunteered with PFLAG/HATCH Scholarships, UH LGBT Resource Center, Theatre Under The Stars, The Alley Theatre, AIDS Foundation Houston, The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarships, and LULAC National Service Center in Houston. He has had the opportunity to work with Charnele Brown of Bill Cosby's "A Different World", and with Pulitzer Prize winner and Tony Award recipient, playwright Edward Albee. Oliver enjoys helping with student organizations both in HISD and with UH. He is also a Cougar Ally to increase the safety and comfort level for LGBT students at UH.
