Ring Topology
The time required for the data to travel around the ring between the interconnected computers is called the walk time.
As the message travels around the ring, the computers check the address of the incoming signal and
- acknowledge the receipt or
- retransmit the message to the next computer and generate a negative acknowledgement to the message sender.
A loss of a computer does not stop the operation of the network, break in a cable does.
- Ring topology connects all
computers in a closed loop
- Messages pass around the ring
in one direction only to each
