Decentralized Routing
2. The purpose of Dynamic Routing is to improve network performance by routing messages over the fastest possible route, away from traffic on busy circuits and busy computers.
An initial routing table is developed by the network manager, but it is continuously updated by the computers themselves to reflect changing network
conditions such as network traffic.
Updating is done in two ways:
- 1. By monitoring outgoing messages to see how long they take to transmit and how long it takes the receiving computer to acknowledge them.
- 2. Each computer periodically reports how busy it is.
