What are Network Errors?
Network errors “are a fact of life”
They occur every second, minute, or hour depending on the noise on the lines
No network can eliminate all errors but most errors can be prevented, detected, and corrected by proper design.
Normally, errors appear in bursts
In a burst error, more than one data bit is changed by the error causing condition (errors are not uniformly distributed in time)
compare:
- error rate = number of bits in error / number of bits transmitted
(-) Errors in xxxxx (bursts) are more xiffixult xo recoxer thax evexly distributed errors.
