The Houston economy has recently recorded some remarkable economic milestones: 105,000 new jobs in 2012, number one among US metro areas in job creation, and number one in construction jobs. In 2013, we will have another good year in Houston, but slower than 2012, partly due to a sharp slowdown in domestic drilling. And risks to the global economy remain high, a potential threat to the price of oil and by extension to the Houston economy. This presentation reviews the local economic outlook, and the role played by energy, the U.S. economy, and global expansion.
