Bauer Business Minds: Research for the Real World.
Bauer Business Minds: Research for the Real World - C. T. Bauer College of Business, University of Houston
Dr. Vanessa Patrick

Do you want to find new ways to infuse your projects with greater creativity? Three behavioral researchers at the Bauer College conducted a series of novel studies that demonstrate that the direction of indoor airflow can result in heightened creativity. Time to invest in a desk fan or take a walk during your breaks, perhaps?

We have much to celebrate at Bauer! The faculty spotlight in today's newsletter features Assistant Professor Paola Pederzoli who was recognized by the Financial Management Association for her paper, "Crash Risk in Individual Stocks". We also congratulate Marketing doctoral student Mohsen Pourmasoudi on being named runner-up in the 2020 AMA Sales SIG Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Competition and Marketing Professor Michael Ahearne who is among the top 15 scholars in the world for publications in top marketing journals over the past ten years. Their stories will be featured in upcoming editions.

Finally, I am delighted to unveil our newly revamped radio show on Houston Public Media – Bauer Business Focus. I was the first guest and spoke about my passion project: the importance of adopting personal policies rather than resolutions to achieve personal and professional success! We will be featuring many more Bauer faculty in the weeks to come. So tune in …

Happy Reading!

The Way the Wind Blows
Bauer Researchers Find Wind Heightens
Creativity and Engagement

Photo: Wind on a hill

As three C. T. Bauer College of Business researchers pondered research topics that involve sensory experiences, they began talking about how it feels to be outside, a bracing wind in your face as you hike in the woods, or stroll along a breezy beach. They began to wonder: Would air blown directly on the face of someone indoors produce a similar feeling, resulting in heightened creativity and engagement?
