Another problem: Chrysler kept changing its mind about parts needed.
With JIT plant order matrix is established 10 days in advance of production which lets suppliers know what needs to be produced. (90% of the parts can be produced in 10 days)
Mindset: all the backup inventory was needed to do the job (security blanket)
most suppliers were happy to go with JIT
