Network Routing
Routing is the process of determining the route or path through the network that a message will travel from the sending computer to the receiving computer.
1. With Centralized routing, all routing decisions are made by one central computer.
- Star networks use centralized routing.
- Centralized routing can also be used in mesh networks
- one computer in the network is designated as the network routing manager
- it develops a routing table that specifies how messages will travel through the network.
- the routing table is transmitted to each computer, which uses its version of it until replaced by a new computer.
