Centralized Routing

• Advantages of centralized routing:

  • simplicity: only one computer develops the routing table others simply use it ==> resources saved.

• Disadvantages of centralized routing:

  • vulnerability of the computer developing the routing tables
  • does not reflect changing network conditions such as computers that are overloaded by many messages
  • when routing tables are changed, network capacity is “wasted” to transmit the routing tables to all computers.
