Brouters

• Brouters combine the functions of bridges and routers.

• They connect both same and different data link type LAN segments.

• ==> Brouters

  • 1. check the data link layer address of all packets on the network and forward them to any other network of the same type
  • 2. process any messages addressed to them looking at the network layer protocol to see if the message has to be forwarded to a different data link layer type network
