Fast Ethernet
The concept: Take an ethernet LAN (10 Mbps) and make it run 100 Mbps ==> several propositions.
Two versions:
- 1. 100BaseT Ethernet (100BaseX) is a set of three data link layer protocols that provide a 100 Mbps data rate using the standard ethernet bus topology, ethernet data link packets and CSMA/CD MAC.
- The three use different media
- They are currently being
developed as standards.
- 2. 100VG-AnyLAN supports both ethernet and token ring
- four sets of twisted pair (25Mbps each) can be multiplexed.
- uses demand priority access method (DPAM) for media access control
