Telephone Networks
Digital matrix switches combine technologies used in T-1 multiplexers, PBXs (switchboards), and circuit switches. They are used to change connections between ports such as on a front end processor.
Network switch is a stand alone switch which
- typically has 12 or more communications circuits that operate at different speeds.
- should be able to support various types of networks
- should be expandable to handle more communications circuits
- should be able to dial and receive calls automatically
- should be able to switch messages between any of its circuits
- should have deliver /verification/confirmation features
- should provide storage for at least 500 in-transit messages
