Dr. Vanessa Patrick

I am delighted to announce that Dr. Yili (Kevin) Hong will serve as the new Director of our Ph.D. program. Our doctoral students are the stewards of our discipline and we look forward to his leadership in taking our Ph.D. program to new heights.

In our Working Wisdom podcast, it was a pleasure and privilege to chat with Dr. Derek Avery of the Management and Leadership department. I found the conversation intellectually stimulating and inspiring, and I hope you do too!

Our final story is about our Dean, Dr. Paul A. Pavlou, who is leading the way in our external grant funding initiative to be part of a team awarded an NSF grant.

I thank all our Bauer faculty and doctoral students for their efforts in making Bauer a world-class business school.

C. T. Bauer College of Business Dean and Cullen Distinguished Chair Professor Paul A. Pavlou and researchers from Texas A&M University, Temple University, and the University of Texas at San Antonio are creating a system for assembling and analyzing energy use data from community and industry stakeholders in Houston and San Antonio. The system would allow officials to be more preemptive in preventing outages and react more quickly in the event of unforeseen outages due to extreme weather, utility pole collisions, and other natural disasters.
