If the last two years have provided one resounding lesson to me, it’s that we can only accomplish so much on our own, and in order to progress, we must seek out support and guidance from others.
The theme of this issue of Inside Bauer — mentorship — underscores that idea, illustrating how important it is to navigate life with a roadmap from someone who has taken a similar path and then, once you’ve reached your destination, to look back at future travelers and share hard-won wisdom. That’s not to say mentorship ensures a smooth journey, but there is comfort in knowing you aren’t alone as you face struggles.
Our team has enjoyed putting together the content for this issue over the last few months, as we discovered mentorship woven into every part of the Bauer College experience. The strong sense of community within the college fosters a natural environment for students, faculty, staff and alumni to connect with each other and provide shared knowledge.
We hope you enjoy interacting with the content in this issue of Inside Bauer as much as we enjoyed creating it. As always, if you have feedback or suggestions for the magazine, please feel free to reach out.
I hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as we’ve enjoyed creating them. If you have an idea for a story to include in an upcoming issue of Inside Bauer, please reach out (insidebauer@central.uh.edu).
Best,
Jessica Navarro
