We are incredibly proud to recognize our fellow Cohort 1 student and veteran, Micah Garrison, who was given the Military Salute of the Game during the University of Houston vs. Iowa State football game on September 28thš.
Micah, currently the Vice President of Supply Chain Management at Patterson-UTI, served with distinction in the Army Infantry as part of the 1st Armored Division and 1st Cavalry Division from 1999-2005, completing 1 tour in Kosovo and 2 tours in Iraq. His bravery and dedication were recognized with 2 Purple Hearts and 2 Bronze Stars, one of which was awarded with a Valor Device.
It was an honor to celebrate Micahās incredible service and achievements with the DBA community. This recognition is well deserved, and we couldnāt be prouder.
Congratulations to Murali Kuppuswamy, a 2nd-year Executive Doctorate in Business Administration student here at Bauer! In August, 2024, Murali and Dr. Vanessa Patrick took the stage at The Gulf Coast Symposium on HR to present their paper, "DARE to Design Inclusive HR Processes," in front of nearly 1,300 participants. What an achievement! Congrats, Murali Kuppuswamy! Hereās a snapshot of him in action.
Houston Business Journal featured the Bauer Executive DBA with a news story and video, “A ‘New Year, New You’ starts with Bauer College’s Executive DBA program” in February.
Bauer DBA student Alfredo Arvide, who is Chief Innovation Officer for Blue People, recently published "You Need to Innovate to Survive" in Hispanic Executive. The piece, originally written for Arvide's Bauer DBA class "Grand Challenges in Business and Society," led by Professor Vanessa Patrick, highlighted a renewed innovation framework to guide organizations through custom software development projects and noted, āIn the face of constant change and disruption, fostering a culture that welcomes reliable, rapidly evaluated, and tested innovations is imperative for business success.ā

The Grand Challenges in Business and Society course marks the beginning of the three-year Executive DBA program and serves as a buffer to help executives get in the mindset of learning. The course, designed and developed by Associate Dean for Research and Marketing Professor Vanessa Patrick, assists students in their journey from business executives to scholars. Read more here.

Bauer College hosted the inaugural cohort of the Executive DBA program on campus in the fall. College administrators and program leadership kicked off the first semester of the program with students during a Welcome Reception at The Houston Club.
In March, Houston Business Journal announced the news of Bauer College’s new Executive DBA program, noting that Bauer is the first local school to provide such an offering.
