Students from the C. T. Bauer College of Business Program for Excellence in Selling recently brought home top honors in the State Farm Marketing and Sales Competition held at Central Missouri University.
Represented by management senior Ashley Jain and finance and marketing junior Adam Mooney, Bauer College competed against individuals and teams from colleges including University of Central Missouri, Arizona State University, University of Georgia and other leading U.S. business schools.
The Bauer students ranked highly overall as a team, while Jain was named the overall winner and placed first in the sales role play competition.
“In order to prepare, we conducted many role plays in the weeks prior to the competition,” Mooney said. “We enlisted help from some of our friends that work at State Farm and from our program manager Yara Suki who previously won the competition.”
The competition gives students the opportunity to pitch their marketing ideas and to showcase their sales skills by creating a team comprehensive marketing strategy for the next generation of State Farm Offices.
“The competition provides a unique opportunity for our students to compete against other premier sales schools in three areas: a marketing plan presentation, customer service role play, and a traditional sales role play,” said John Pingel, Stephen Stagner Sales Excellence Institute director of corporate relations. “The amount of preparation needed to succeed in each individual event can be overwhelming, for even the best students. It’s amazing to see what happens when passionate and focused students are given a platform to compete at the highest levels.”
