Coming Summer 2018
The Bauer Division of Technology is in the process of upgrading all University owned PCs to Windows 10. The update, which began in May 2018 with Bauer computer labs and classrooms, is scheduled for completion before the Fall 2018 semester begins. Updates to PCs will be done in-person by a representative of Bauer IT, and will be done one department at a time, beginning with staff. Bauer faculty PCs will be updated upon their return. Please back up any and all data before the update.
By now most of you are probably familiar with Windows 10. For those that are not, Windows 10 is the Microsoft's latest operating system upgrade. It was released in July of 2015 and is now considered stable and secure. There are many advantages to upgrading to Windows 10 some of those include:
- Improved security.
- The best features of Windows 7 and 8.
- An overall improvement in functionality.
- You will never have to upgrade again!

Office 365 and OneDrive
Additionally, the University is in the process of converted to Office 365 and OneDrive for Business. Office 365 refers to subscription plans that include access to Office applications plus other productivity services that are enabled over the Internet (cloud services) and is used in conjunction with the standard desktop suite. More information about the UH implementation of Office 365 can be found here. Some of the advantages of Office 365 include:
- Files can be easily shared and accessed
- Easy document recovery
- Work from any location on any device!

OneDrive for Business is Microsoft's cloud-based storage solution. OneDrive offers personal online storage space in the cloud, provided for you by the University with built in integration with your office applications. OneDrive can be used to store your work files across multiple devices and is accessible from anywhere at any time.

- Meets University standards for Level 1 data
