Six New Researchers Join Bauer College Faculty This Fall

Six new faculty members have joined Bauer College for the Fall 2017 semester, bringing expertise in areas ranging from corporate finance to supply chain analytics.
Shih-chi Chiu
Assistant Professor, Management
Shih-chi Chiu joins Bauer College as assistant professor in management. Chiu is a former Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University, Nanyang Business School, Singapore. She also served as an instructor at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Trulaske School of Business, where she was presented with both Outstanding Teacher Award and Outstanding Research Award. She received a Ph.D. in Business Administration at the University of Missouri-Columbia and has completed the Executive Education Program in Board Governance from the Harvard Business School.
Chiu’s research focuses on the impacts of executive characteristics, successions, and governance on the scale and scope of corporate social responsibility and corporate restructuring (divestitures). She is also interested in how executive attributes may help predict non-rational decision-making related to corporate strategies. Her work has been published in The Journal of Management, Journal of Business Ethics, The Leadership Quarterly and other well-known academic journals.
Kristin Cullen-Lester
Assistant Professor, Management
Kristin Cullen-Lester joins Bauer College as an assistant professor in management after serving as a Senior Research Scientist at the Center for Creative Leadership, Greensboro, N.C. Cullen-Lester received her Ph.D. from Auburn University. Her research is focused on relational aspects of leadership, including leaders' social skills and networks as well as the role of organization networks in shared leadership, complex collaboration, and implementing change. She has published work in Journal of Management, The Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Organizational Behavior and other leading academic journals.
Zesong (Zack) Liu
Assistant Professor, Finance
Zesong (Zack) Liu has been named an assistant professor in finance. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas McCombs School of Business. His research interests include corporate finance, innovation, labor economics, and financial constraints.
Xiao Ma
Assistant Professor, Business Analytics
Xiao Ma has been named an assistant professor of business analytics in the Department of Decision & Information Sciences. He served as Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the University of Arkansas, Sam W. Walton College of Business and received a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has published research in Journal of Management Information Systems, Information Systems Research, and other leading academic journals. His research interests include emerging online labor marketplace and economics, online communities, knowledge sharing, and healthcare IT.
Eylem Tekin
Visiting Assistant Professor, Supply Chain
Eylem Tekin will join Bauer College as a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Decision & Information Sciences. Tekin previously was Instructional Associate Professor at the University of Houston, Industrial Engineering, where she received the Cullen College of Engineering Teaching Excellence Award three years in a row, and was voted best teacher by students. She also was an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Tekin received her Ph.D. from Northwestern University. Tekin’s research interests include supply chain design and analysis; supply chain analytics; healthcare and service systems management; predictive analytics in healthcare applications; and decision-making using large-scale data. Her work has been published in Management Science, European Journal of Operational Research and other academic journals.
Yu (Annika) Wang
Assistant Professor, Accountancy & Taxation
Yu (Annika) Wang has been named an assistant professor in the Department of Accountancy & Taxation. Wang received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, and was named the AAA/Deloitte/J. Michael Cook Doctoral Consortium Fellow for 2016. Her research interests include corporate research and development, capital markets, financial reporting, and disclosure.
