Students from the C. T. Bauer College of Business Program for Excellence in Selling recently brought home top honors in the State Farm Marketing and Sales Competition held at University of Central Missouri.
Represented by marketing senior Bryce Watts and communications junior Elizabeth Lopez-Aguilar, Bauer College competed against individuals and teams from colleges including University of Central Missouri, Arizona State University, University of Georgia and other leading U.S. business schools.
The Bauer students earned first place out of 11 competing universities, receiving the Team Champion Award as the top ranked team for all parts of the competition.
“Competing in the State Farm Marketing and Sales Competition was like no other experience I have had. It was so rewarding to see the hard work, practice, and stress all pay off in the end for both me and Elizabeth,” Watts said. “I will never forget this experience or the people who helped me achieve this success. I can’t wait to see what the future holds and I am so grateful for the opportunity to make the University of Houston, The Program for Excellence in Selling, and all of those who support me proud.”
The competition gives students the opportunity to pitch their marketing ideas and to showcase their sales skills by creating a team comprehensive marketing strategy for the next generation of State Farm Offices.
“The State Farm Marketing and Sales Competition challenged me beyond belief. It was a learning experience that allowed me to truly immerse myself into the role of an agent and allowed me the opportunity to represent PES alongside my teammate Bryce,” Lopez-Aguilar said. “Bryce and I worked countless hours and had multiple late nights of sales role plays, market research, and overall strategic planning to ensure we continue the legacy of champions at the Sales Excellence Institute.”
