Novia Chen

Bio

Novia Chen is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the C. T. Bauer College of Business. She joined Bauer in 2015 and teaches Taxation of Business Entities in the MSACCY and CAP programs.

Her research lies primarily at the intersection of taxation and financial accounting. Her research focuses on three areas: (1) income shifting and foreign cash holdings of U.S. multinational firms; (2) determinants of corporate tax avoidance; (3) financial reporting and disclosure of income taxes. Her research has been published in The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies, Contemporary Accounting Research, and Management Science.

Dr. Chen has received awards for excellence in teaching, including the Lucile and Leroy Melcher Excellence in Teaching Award, and Department of Accountancy & Taxation Teaching Excellence Award.

She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, MSA from Michigan State University, and BBA from Renmin University of China.
