What majors are available?

The Online BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration degree) offers standard tracks in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management, Marketing, Management Information Systems, and Supply Chain Management. The BBA degree is the same and looks the same on the transcript and diploma.

Are Face-to-Face Classes Available?

The Online BBA Is 100% online, with immersive hyflex, online synchronous, and online asynchronous delivery options, but not face-to-face options which are designed for the regular BBA.

What Are Technology Requirements?

Because the Online BBA is 100% online, to participate in online classes, students must use a desktop computer or laptop (PC or Mac) with internet access. For additional information on technology requirements, see: https://uh.edu/online/tech/requirements/.

If I am a current business major in the regular BBA, can I switch to the Online BBA?

Current business majors in the regular BBA have the option to switch to the Online BBA at this time, but should fill out the Inquiry Form for Current Students and meet with the Online BBA Advisor prior to making a final decision.

If I start in the Online BBA, can I switch to the regular BBA?

Yes, students admitted to UH as a business major in the Online BBA may later switch to the regular BBA, however, once you switch you may not switch back to the Online BBA. Switching may not occur mid-semester. The regular BBA would require all fees and for non-residents of Texas, would require out-of-state tuition. To request information on switching, you can email bba@uh.edu.

What is the cost of the Online BBA versus the regular BBA?

For the 2021-2022 academic year, tuition is $409.25 per semester credit hours for both in-state and out-of-state students (out-of-state fees are waived), which is the same cost as the regular BBA. Non-resident students living in Texas who are required by law to pay out-of-state tuition will receive an automatic scholarship to cover tuition costs above the $409.25 per semester credit hour for the online program. For the Online BBA, regular university fees are waived (not including fees for orientation, international service fees for international students, graduation application fee, and other specialty fees). Tuition is subject to change annually based on authorization by the UH Board of Regents.

May students in the Online BBA participate in UHin4 and fixed rate tuition?

The Online BBA allows students to participate in UHin4 (entering freshmen taking 15 hours their first fall semester), which provides priority registration, but they do not have access to fixed rate tuition. Students pay the relevant Online BBA tuition rate.

Do students in the Online BBA qualify for financial aid and scholarships?

Students in the Online BBA may qualify for need-based financial aid, both federal and institutional, if they meet specified criteria, but may not qualify for certain UH and Bauer College scholarships. UH Extend students are not eligible for centrally awarded merit-based scholarships, such as Tier One or Academic Excellence Scholarships.

UH Extend students' eligibility for Bauer College scholarships is determined by donor and college criteria. (Note: The Bauer Excellence Scholarship is not open to students in the Online BBA.) For questions about other specific scholarships, consult with the Online BBA Academic Advisor.

What university services and programs would be available to students in the Online BBA?

All university services and programs are available to students in the Online BBA except those funded by the Recreation and Wellness Center, Student Services fee, and the University Center fee. Students in the Online BBA are exempt from those fees.

Obtaining a student identification card

Once enrolled, students in the Online BBA may receive digital Cougar Cards online using the UHGO mobile app to have access to the mobile Cougar Card credential with photo submission available remotely. The digital card includes the same information as a physical card, including classification, MyUH id number, and the card number assigned to them. It is recommended that online students submit a photo online so that the picture can feed to the digital card. With this digital card feature, online students would not need to come to campus to get a physical card.

What Bauer College student services and programs would be available to students in the Online BBA?

Academic Advising: Students in the Online BBA will meet their academic advisor during orientation when admitted as Pre-business majors, and will retain the same advisor when declaring a specific major in business (Finance, Management, Marketing, MIS, or Supply Chain Management), through graduation.

Career Services: Students in the Online BBA will take a course offered online called BUSI 3302 “Connecting Bauer to Business” to prepare them for internships and jobs using a website called Career Gateway. This website allows students to post resumes and search for internships and jobs with corporate partners in the greater Houston area and throughout Texas, many of whom have a global presence. Students in the Online BBA would also have access to any online career events that are held by the Rockwell Career Center.

College Programs: Students in the Online BBA can apply to the Ted Bauer Leadership Certificate Program, offered in both a face-to-face and an online format. It is a competitive selection process, but applications by students in the Online BBA will be considered. Other leadership development programs may also include an online component. Student organizations are encouraged to cater to online members as much as possible, but are not always able to do so, depending on their size and type of activities. Bauer Honors is not open to students in the Online BBA.

International Students Planning for Optional Practical Training (OPT)

The Online BBA does not allow for OPT since international students must study in the U.S. for one year prior to applying for OPT, and Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is not an option. International students wanting OPT can make a one-time request to switch from the Online BBA to the regular BBA for their final year of study, which would require out-of-state tuition and all fees. One cautionary note: the US Embassy in some countries may be reluctant to grant a visa for that final year since students in the Online BBA would be able to complete their degree online. Also, even if a visa is granted, OPT opportunities may be limited.
