For Students

The primary stakeholder group served by the SURE Program is our Bauer students. This experiential education opportunity provides students the opportunity to gain real-life experience in business consulting. This unique opportunity helps to develop valuable human-centric skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, management and leadership while working with the local community in a meaningful and purpose filled way.

This confluence of experiential education, critical skill building, and community engagement puts the SURE Program at the forefront of the University of Houston’s five-year Quality Enhancement Plan and C. T. Bauer College of Business’s strategic plan.

BRAINSTORMING TO BANKROLLING

For Students, the SURE Program class is listed as “Brainstorm to Bankrolling” in the course catalogue. This semester-long flagship course is set up for each student in the class to lead a small team of under-resourced entrepreneurs from the Greater Houston community. The students guide the entrepreneurs as they learn how to write a business plan and pitch for funding.

Students see how theories become practical applications. They also learn how this course and their involvement impacts the Houston business ecosystem, and how business creation and growth create a more sustainable and inclusive economy.
