Bio

John M. Williams joined the C.T. Bauer College of Business as a full-time faculty member in 2022 after practicing law for 33 years. He currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Business Law and Ethics, Functional Commercial Law, and Employment Law and Labor Relations. Before that, John was an adjunct instructor with the University of Houston Downtown (1990 to 1992) and with the College of Business at the University of Houston (1992 to 2022). John graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.A. degree (1982). He received his M.B.A. degree from North Texas State University (1986). After graduating from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas (J.D., 1989), John began his legal career as a Trial Attorney with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in the Houston District Office where he litigated employment discrimination cases as well as provided legal guidance to the investigation division. In 1992, John entered the private practice of law specializing in labor and employment law representing employees and employers in all areas of labor and employment law in state and federal courts and before state and federal administrative agencies throughout Texas and Oklahoma. In addition, John consulted and provided counsel to employers regarding their human resources department operations, policies, practices, procedures, training, and investigations. John is licensed to practice law in the states of Texas and Oklahoma.
