Trip Details

Brazil Learning Abroad

Graduate Students Only.

Brazil includes a vibrant mix of emerging markets, business expansion in Latin America, and cross-cultural leadership while maintaining a regional economic focus. São Paulo is the largest economic and financial city in the southern hemisphere with a strong culture that supports startups and entrepreneurship. Rio de Janeiro is known for its role in the oil and gas industry, as well as tourism and energy sectors. Graduate students attending this Learning Abroad experience will be introduced to doing business abroad and develop a deeper understanding of cross-cultural business structures. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in collaborative learning teams with executives for a direct business challenge for a Brazilian company.


Cost & Payment Information

The cost of the program is $6,849. This includes executive hotel accommodation (single rooms), program excursions, and seminars. Daily breakfast at the hotel, complimentary hotel internet, 8 group lunches, a welcome dinner, and a closing dinner are also included. The cost of the trip does not include health insurance and UH tuition.

Program Cost Includes:
  • Roundtrip airfare to Brazil and internal flight from Sao Paulo to Rio de Janiero
  • One group transfer in and out from the airports for international and internal flights
  • Deluxe coach for transport to all business meetings and group lunches/dinners and group cultural activities. Two bottles of water are provided each day on bus transportation
  • Seven nights of executive style hotel accommodation with complimentary breakfast and internet
  • Seven executive business company visits in a variety of sectors
  • One Welcome dinner at Sao Paulo restaurant
  • One Farewell dinner at Rio de Janeiro restaurant
  • Eight group lunches
  • One Sao Paulo city tour
  • One Rio de Janeiro city tour
  • One Carnival Experience in Rio de Janeiro
  • One Coffee farm visit with coffee tasting
  • One Tijuca Rainforest Jeep Tour
Program Cost Does Not Include:
  • UH tuition and fees
  • Travel insurance (On Call international travel insurance is required, cost is $1.54 per day)
Scholarships:

Students have found a number of ways to reduce their costs associated with this trip. Some students have convinced their employers to pay for the program as part of an employer’s educational reimbursement program. Some students seek scholarship opportunities. We strongly recommend that participants apply for scholarships. Learning aboard scholarships can be found on their website. You also should consider applying for the Bauer Scholarship. Information for the Bauer Scholarship can be found on the website. Please note that by applying for a scholarship that an award is guaranteed.

International Travel Information

Participants must have a valid passport. If you do not have a passport, you should apply for one as soon as possible. You can take advantage of the UH Passport for Coogs initiative.

It is the student's responsibility to verify visa requirements for their nationality. It is also the student's responsibility to acquire all necessary visas. Go to the state department's web site to get more information about international travel.

Arrival

The cost of the program includes airfare. The program begins on Friday, June 5, 2026. Students will be on a group flight so participants will be traveling together.

During the Program

We will arrange all travel during the program at no additional expense to the student. This includes day trips, tours, and visits to local businesses. All leisure dinners and activities outside of what is listed for the program will be covered by the student.

Departure

The program ends on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Students will be on a group flight so all participants will be traveling together.

Accommodation Information

Students will be provided with single executive-style rooms. Complimentary breakfast with internet included in program cost, but other services such as room service, laundry service, and other charges are not. Student will need to give the hotel a credit card upon arrival to cover these additional charges.
