Q. Favorite Course:

My favorite course was my introduction to computing class I took my freshman year. I enjoyed this course because it was project oriented. Coming in, students were expected to think critically and essentially become problem solvers. I enjoyed working with different teams on projects related to energy and future technology.

Q. When I'm not in class, I stay involved on campus with:

I like to stay involved in my role as a corresponding secretary within National Association of Black Accountants. I also serve as a tutor for the Cougars and Houston Area Math Program (CHAMPS). Besides that, I always look for opportunities to volunteer through MVP and at the Houston Food Bank.

Q. I'm proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar because:

It has showed me that hard work pays off. In addition, it shows me that the Bauer school I’m a part of really cares about Its students and our success.

Q. After I graduate, I hope to:

I hope to enter the work force as a systems analyst providing people and businesses with technology solutions. Ultimately, I would like to climb the ranks and serve as a partner or CIO within a consulting firm.

Q. What is your favorite quote? Why?

“To choose doubt as a philosophy of life is akin to choosing immobility as a means of transportation.” -Yann Martel

I lead my life with this quote in mind to ensure that I keep moving forward and to never doubt myself as doubt leads to the destruction of any novel idea.

Q. What is your favorite quote? Why?

"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." This is one of my favorite quotes because I have always been someone who likes to stay in their comfort zone. However, by being at Bauer and joining Beta Alpha Psi I have learned to step out of my comfort zone and grow as a person. As I came out of my comfort zone I was able to build confidence and network with recruiters and professionals and by doing so I received an internship offer from one of the Big Four Public Accounting Firms. Therefore, I truly believe that life does start at the end of ones comfort zone.

Q. What is your favorite quote? Why?

"We rise by lifting others" - Robert G. Ingersoll

I like this quote because I see this happen everyday, whether it is by opening a door, or smiling at someone who I don't know. I can see that it makes a difference in the environment we live in and those people pass it forward to others. Recently, I began a charity for an elderly woman who lost everything in Hurricane Harvey and I began to see that the people I hadn't spoken to in a very long time were taking initiative to keep the movement of my charity going. Hence, not only was I helping a victim of the hurricane, but these people were helping me rise to help her. As a result, in under a week I reached my goal and the friendships I had forgotten were renewed as well. When I think about how people help each other in big and small ways it is truly amazing to see this happen in real life and that's why this is my favorite quote.

Q. What is your favorite quote? Why?

"He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life." - Muhammad Ali. Everybody that has reached a level of greatness has at some point stepped into unchartered territory, or done something they weren't sure of in order to take the next step in their ascension to success. Q. What is your favorite quote? Why?

"The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short, but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark." This quote reminds me that many people simply assume that they will fail at things they consider to be beyond them. In this way, many people defeat themselves before even allowing themselves a proper audition. This quote reminds me to try for the best, because you never know what you might just stumble upon.

Q. What is your favorite quote? Why?

"I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word." - Martin Luther King Jr.

I have many favorite quotes, from joy and love to death and war. I feel though, the eloquence of King is that of strong unity and compassion. Speech that has not lost its context in the last half century. The language has only grown stronger and more symbolically important. I do believe that one day, the hopes, dreams and successes of millions of the persecuted will finally be fulfilled, be it across the world or in my neighborhood.

Have gotten an internship or full time job at a middle-market CPA firm. I plan to work in public accounting for 3-5 years and then move on to industry such as healthcare or energy.

Q. What is your favorite quote? Why?

"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." - Oscar Wilde

This quote speaks to me because I don't want to be compared to other people. There are some moments of my life my self-esteem and confidence got to a point where I just shunned myself from the world. That's why whenever I start thinking about it, I like to look back at this quote to remind myself I don't have to try to be somebody else. Rather, be who you want to be in the future and love yourself.

Q. In your own words, what makes a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar?
