I gave accounting a try, and it surprisingly endeared to me. The ultimate goal is to open my own studio business and teach around 50 students a week.

Why Bauer?: Honestly, I didn’t choose Bauer- at least not in the beginning. I met my best friend Kathryn in the third grade when we were both in Oklahoma. She moved after sixth grade to Texas, but we regained contact in eighth grade. Since senior year, we’ve known everything about each other. She was set on going to the University of Houston because the Conrad N. Hilton College has a great HRM major program. Me, I just wanted to leave Oklahoma. At the time I wanted to do Interior Design, so UH didn’t peek my interest. Then I switched to business, and Kathryn convinced me to apply to UH. What could be better than starting in a new town with your best friend by your side? So my heart was set on getting into UH. I went so far as to hide the scholarship OU sent me just so my parents couldn’t reject UH. When I got my acceptance package a few days later, I screamed with joy and jumped all around the house. I had work in 40 minutes, but nothing could wipe that smile off my face. I’m happy I chose Bauer because I truly feel like everyone is here to help you succeed. The Freshman Connection at the beginning of the year helped me see that, and I would never go back on my choice to be a Coog or a Bauer student.

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: Support. Everyone who is a part of the BES scholars gives off a friendly vibe, which is important for me. It’s a great comfort knowing if I have a problem or question I can shoot someone an email or talk to someone in the office.

Hobbies?: In my spare time, I like to read Chinese books to make sure I am still literate in my native language.

Why Bauer?: I chose to attend UH Bauer because I love the city of Houston and at the same time the resources here are extremely plentiful to get my name out in the business sector of the city. Going to college here would be a wise decision for anyone who plans to look for a long-term job here in Houston.

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: My favorite part of being a BES scholar is the individuals we get to work with. Not only do we get to work with other talented Bauer Excellence Scholars, but we are also exposed to people of much higher importance such as the Dean and many others.

Why Bauer?: I was interested in business and I had heard a lot of great things about Bauer. I also love being able to stay in Houston, whose economy is ripe with opportunity.

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: It feels great to be a part of such a special group of people! I love knowing that my peers and I are all aiming for excellence in what we do.

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: Being Bauer Proud and repping the Red and White!

Favorite TV show?: Sherlock - I love crime solving and detective shows that really get you thinking.

Why Bauer?: I chose Bauer because I thought it'd be the best place for me to learn the skills necessary to walk into what I hope to do, which is using accounting to work in nonprofit or ministry work.

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: Having a close knit group of friends and professional support guiding me on this journey! Also, being able to have the financial burden of paying for college off my back has been so helpful and has enabled me to take advantage of all the opportunities that Bauer offers.

High School: Lakeview Centennial

Hobbies?: Growing up in Dallas for my entire life raised me to be a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Trust me, it is extremely enjoyable to be a Dallas Cowboys fan in Houston, TX.

Why Bauer?: As one of the highly regarded business schools in the state, it was difficult to pass on becoming a UH Bauer Excellence Scholar.

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: Getting to know other students who push me to work as hard as I can to succeed in college.

High School: Cypress Ranch

Favorite musician?: I'm pretty into melodic metal along with general rock and alternative rock, like Chevelle.

Hobbies?: Volunteering at my local animal shelter.

Why Bauer?: My mother is a UH alum, and I live in Cypress which is close by, so UH was definitely an option. I chose to come because of the great reputation Bauer has, UH is a Tier One school, and I was offered a great opportunity.

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: I like the feeling that I am a part of a group/organization with other people with similar goals and wants. It makes me feel like I'm a part of something special.

Why Bauer?: I got a good scholarship and it had the best and most specialized business program out of all the ones I was accepted to.

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: The scholarship and the meetings with all the special treatment :)

Why Bauer?:  I chose Bauer, because it has a good Supply Chain and MIS programs, and has connections with Houston businesses.

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: Being a part of a smaller community within Bauer Honors.

High School: Clear Horizons Early College High School

Favorite TV show?: Say Yes to the Dress

Hobbies?: Eating, Playing Tsum Tsum, Tetris, Fashion.

Why Bauer?: I chose UH Bauer to be able to be close to home, but also to attend one of the best business schools.

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: My favorite part about being a BES scholar is attending a diverse school and getting to meet many different people.

Why Bauer?: I chose Bauer because of the Entrepreneurship program. It's one of the best programs in the nation, and in one of the best cities. 

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: I've enjoyed building a small community within the larger Bauer Program. It's quite exciting to be a part of the genesis of something like this.

Hobbies?: Photography, Scrapbooking, Decorating my room.

Why Bauer?: I chose to attend Bauer, because I had heard so many respectable and interesting things about the college. My mother was also a proud Cougar and proud student of Bauer. She also worked through college, not allowing for the building of community. The best part about deciding to come here was gaining my reason to stay. I have a family here at Bauer, one that will support me and have fun along the way!

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: I really enjoy being a part of a newly emerging group of very unique, intelligent, and promising individuals. I am also very excited to grow with this group of students, because we all have common ties. That, I feel, brings us closer than a group like the Honors College, in which you can be any major ranging from Education to Phronesis.

Why Bauer?: I wanted to stay in Houston, a lot of my family went to UH, I didn't know what I wanted to do after college, so I chose Bauer to be more flexible.

Favorite part of being a Bauer Excellence Scholar?: Graduating from college without worrying about being in debt, and being part of a smaller community within the larger Bauer College.
