What Is LeaderShape?
LeaderShape is a program offered by the C. T. Bauer College of Business for undergraduate students. This program gives students the opportunity to learn about leadership in an engaging and intensive way through a four-day, overnight retreat experience in partnership with the national nonprofit organization known as the LeaderShape Institute.
What Happens at LeaderShape
During the four-day Institute, students participate in a wide variety of experiences to help develop their leadership skills, including:
- Large and small group leadership simulations
- Focused small group discussions
- Opportunity to meet your fellow peers from Bauer

Institute by LeaderShape
Since 1986, the LeaderShape Institute has developed a national reputation as one of the premiere leadership development programs for young adults. Over 50,000 people from 500 colleges, corporations, and organizations have completed the program. The LeaderShape Institute is an interactive, four-day program, to help participants develop a commitment to lead with integrity and have a healthy disregard for the impossible. Frequently Asked Questions
Does LeaderShape Cost Money to Attend?
No. LeaderShape is 100% free for all students selected to attend. Registration, room and board, transportation, and food are all covered for you.


Where will we stay for the LeaderShape Institute?
LeaderShape participants will stay in cabins (with showers and A/C) at one of several campsites located along the outskirts of Houston. Any campsite we stay at will be no more than 2 hours away from the UH main campus.
Am I responsible for my own transportation?
No. We bus all students to the campsite for the LeaderShape Institute.
Who can apply for the LeaderShape Institute?
All applicants must be a business major within the C. T. Bauer College of Business and must be at least a Sophomore by credit hours by the time they are attending the Institute. Priority consideration will be given to students with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
LeaderShape Applicant Requirements

- Be a business major in the C. T. Bauer College of Business (minors do not count)
- Be at least a Sophomore by credit hours during the semester you are attending the session.
- Have a GPA of at least 2.5 or higher.
- Complete a LeaderShape application and interview.
*Note: Students with a GPA of 3.0 and higher will be given priority consideration*
